Last night, in response to a Facebook comments, I tried to find a photo showing a suntanned me. The lower picture was taken in 1987 in Negombo, Sri Lanka. We'd just finished jobs in Taif, Saudi Arabia at the time. I guess back then I wasn't afraid of the dangers of sun exposure, or perhaps I just ignored them.
Then, just this morning, I got a FB message from the son of a high school friend. He had noticed we'd soon be in SE Asia. He wrote to say he and friends would be travelling there throughout the winter and suggested we might meet up. I provided our November-to-April dates and exactly when we'd be hanging in Penang, Malaysia and Siem Reap, Cambodia. In the message I mentioned we'd visited most of 'Indochina'. I also added that Jay and I first visited Thailand and Indonesia when we were in our 20's and 30's. The top image is a 25 year-old scan from Chiang Mai, Thailand when we were working in Bahrain.
